About the Authors and Editor:
Written by journalist and television commentator Neil Gardiner, former cycling magazine editor and part-time adventurer Nic Lamond and editor, travel writer and novelist Justin Fox, it promises to encapsulate all the epic moments in the race since its inception in 2004.
Talented photographers, who have sweated their way through the Absa Cape Epic over the years, captured the beauty, drama and scale of the event through their lenses. They include world-renowned photographer Gary Perkin, well-known South African Karin Schermbrucker and world cup downhill racer Sven Martin. Sports and lifestyle photographer Nick Muzik and Tour de France photographer Greg Beadle complete the team.
Neil Gardiner – Journalist and television commentator Neil Gardiner began riding competitively on the road in 1987, bought his first mountain bike in 1993 and has been hooked ever since. With a background in advertising copywriting, he has edited and written magazine articles and television feature, and is currently a contributing editor at Bicycling magazine. He lives in Cape Town with his wife and two children.
Nic Lamond – A former cycling-magazine editor and part-time adventurer. He has raced around the globe and written about the world of fat tyres for over a decade. Nic is a very proud member of the Amabubesi Absa Cape Epic Finishers’ Club and has two top-25 finishes under his belt.
Justin Fox – Justin is an editor, travel writer and novelist based in Cape Town. He spent more than a decade at Getaway magazine, traveling the length and breath of Africa on writing and photography assignments. He is a two-time Mondi journalism award winner. His most recent books include Cape Town Calling, Under the Sway, Africa Lens and The Marginal Safari.
