Amanda Skosana is an internal auditor by profession, but when she follows her heart it is poetry that she writes. She was an only child, but her parents separated when she was still very young and she grew up with her grandmother. Indeed, a deep bond developed between them, one which has lasted to this day. She now looks after her beloved grandmother in her old age. When Amanda was in her early twenties, she nearly lost her ‘rock’ (a term of endearment she still uses for her grandmother). So severe was the shock of this experience that Amanda found herself battling with a debilitating bout of depression. In her distress, she turned to the Bible for spiritual strength. This book is what came out of the journey.

The poems contained in this collection are warm and sincere and filled with soothing hope. In her dedication, the author refers to her poetry as a ‘small beacon of light’ for ‘anyone suffering from the physical weight of depression’. The words seem to float up through a limpid pool.
